The channel, formerly the Funimation Channel, starts showing Ultraman Max next month:

The banner on the twitter page says the show premiers February 27, 7 pm est.

I can't remember if the subs on this series are up to snuff, some of the ultra series on Crunchyroll need clean up.

1. I didn't even know Funimation had a channel.

2. Comcast doesn't carry this channel.

I hope someone who does have access to this channel can clue us into just what language this thing is being presented in.

I wonder if Tsuburaya thinks that their shows have to have English dubs to be released in the US? I don't think that's the case, as plenty of stuff is brought here subbed only. I mean, if they really want to get kids to watch them I understand doing it for their newest shows, but if they think they could do it for the entire back catalog I question that.

Well it's not Malaysian at least. Not much to go on but sounded ok to me.

I'm hoping an English dub heralds an upcoming home video release.

Hey, it apparently premiered today!

Apparently it airs Monday through Friday at 7pm ET and we still have no idea where this dub came from.

I'm almost certain it's Winckler, hearing Max sounds like the actor he used for the movies.
Of course, if even one whole episode of this dub couldbe been uploaded, we would know! Hearing that it airs daily is good, if they burn through episodes quickly, these might show up on streaming a little sooner.

You know, every week or so I check to see if someone on Youtube or twitter has posted some clip of this dubbed version. Nothing. Zip. Zilch, Nada.

That feels like the same thing that happened when Heisei Ultraman series were airing subbed on some local station in California I think it was. Never saw a single thing come out of it, despite the shows airing to completion as far as I recall reading!

^ Ironically, according to August Ragone and early US anime fans it was people recording VHS and beta cassettes of programming off of Japanese language channels at major cities with large Japanese American populations that started anime and tokusatsu fandom in the US.

Maybe Syfy could have shown Ultraman Max, as well as the other Ultraman series in America, dubbed in English.

Now they're gonna show Ultraman 80, English subbed. Two episodes every weekday.

I'm sure the old Italian grandmother who is the only person in America who gets Toku will love it.

Heeeeeey: this Toku puff piece takes some Power Rangers movie promo material and spins it off into a commercial for Max and 80 and we see a bit more of Max's dub!

I was actually referring to something more recent, like within the past 10 years. I can kinda sorta understand how an airing of Tiga and Dyna in the 90s goes unnoticed, but not in the 21st century!

I don't suppose any of this will show up on the FUNimation app?

^Well, Funi is no longer involved with the channel now called Toku - but they have partnered with Crunchyroll and a few months ago an interview about Funi's video releases hinted they may have some sort of Ultraman release in the works.

So.... who knows? William Winckler says the Ultra movies his company dubbed will have a wide release in America and the deal is already done but we still don't know anything about it. Who knows? The Japanese amazon prime series Ultraman Orb: The Origin was said to have an international release with subs soon but we still have no word on it. Who knows?

^That's a real interesting thought, but who knows if the movie secured the rights to use Ultraman like in the book?
