I imagine if the original Ultraman, in all his glory, were to show up in the finale of the new Steven Spielberg special effects blockbuster... well, wouldn't Chaiyo have something to say about that? If not, wouldn't we have heard that the dreaded Chaiyo had been vanquished? I see that Ultra Q, Ultraman, and Ultraseven (all licensed from Chaiyo) have disappeared from ShoutFactory.TV

Could be nothing, could be something.

If Ultraman shows up, i'd be willing to bet the licensing would go through Chaiyo only strengthening their claim

Chaiyo has only ever had distribution rights for the older series. Any attempt by Chaiyo to make original shows and characters has been swiftly knocked down.

It aired in English, it's now over and they are running 80 with subs. There's been zero news regarding any other release, and it seems no one was recording it.
Based on the fact that there English dub credits never showed up on iMDB, I am guessing this was dubbed in Hong Kong at some point, and is just airing now.

This would be licensing the likeness of the original Ultraman, though, not creating a new character.

That's what I'm trying to say, I know that licensed products via Golden Media, UMC, TIGA HK, etc. exist, but they all still have the Tsuburaya copyright on them. I would doubt very much a Hollywood studio would have gone through Chaiyo, if the character does appear in Ready Player One, it would be through Tsubaraya.

Well I finally found TOKU on my Comcast. And all it has is Ginga S and an anime show listed for rental. So apparently I'm not getting the broadcast/streaming/however it's supposed to work. Very bummed at this time.

I hope the seven people who have Toku really enjoyed the premier of Nexus today.

Really curious if the subs were cleaned up at all. Nexus was one of the worst offenders.

Up next: Ultraseven X!

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/20 ... me/.115954

So we know that all these shows have subs. I wonder why they've yet to appear on Crunchyroll?

Also what the heck happened to the release of those movie dubs? I feel like they must be waiting for the right moment or something, but the wait is killing me.

We're still waiting - and it seemed from those interviews that they were in the process of dubbing the Zero movies.

This was mentioned on today's update of the Maser Patrol blog: Toku's Youtube page features Ultraman Cosmos and The Ultraman (as in the '70s anime).

Arggghh! I would love to see this. Toku needs a streaming service or something.

Broadcast rights are seperate from streaming rights. The streaming rights could be tied up with CR, or too expensive, or both. I'm happy the franchise is getting "exposure"... I guess? Is there anyone in the fandom that has contacts at Tsubaraya? I wanna bug 'em.

^Yeah, I suppose.

*exasperated sigh*

It's not like I don't have four unwatched Ultra series on Crunchyroll, but I can't help but get greedy. I want it all! Where are the movies!?
