I believe FUNimation has a streaming deal with Hulu, meaning that it's quite possible that the Evangelion movies - the new ones - are on our were on Hulu.

I can understand a few of his concerns, but in this context it can't help but feel like sour grapes from a competitor.

Since Funimation has released the *Rebuild* films on home media, I don't understand why they never re-released the original series on DVD or Blu ray? ADV is long gone, and most of the titles they released have been re-released by other distributors picking up licence from the various anime production companies. Or was the original NGE just in some legal in-perpetuity nightmare like Godzilla 1985?

I'm not the biggest expert on this thing, but apparently Evangelion was trapped in some sort of licensing quagmire since ADV's last home video release almost a decade ago. Something to do with Gainax and ADV's increasingly contentious relationship as ADV spent many years trying to get a live-action Hollywood Eva movie off the ground?

Sounds like Polygon will be animating PR for Netflix...

^ In my opinion the animation wasn't the problem with their Godzilla project.

Still, to my eyes the only Pacific Rim is that original movie and everything else is just expanded universe.
