^ for someone that reviews movies, you sure do dismiss an awful lot of them off of a first impression.

Bumblebee isn't directed by Michael Bay, it's directed by Travis Knight whose first directorial film, Kubo and the Two Strings, most people on this board adore

I initially had zero hope for Aquaman (and the DCU) but James Wan is fine director (i still want him to do a giant monster flick) - the trailer looks like its a kitchen sink of Aquaman stories jammed into one film, but hearing that it's shed the Zack Snyder gloom is another point in its favor.

I doubt I will see either of these in the theater (because getting a babysitter is more hassle then it's worth) but i wouldn't label either as crap at this juncture

^^ You gave Kubo a 10/10 and put it at the top of your favorite films of 2016, but won't see the director's second film because it will presumably mess up continuity that you don't care about?

Yes a director can have good an bad movies. But keep in mind those are your opinions. Half of your *bad* movies many individuals would place on a favorable list.

As a huge fan of Transformers, yes the live action series has been mostly a letdown. But Paramount/Hasbro stopped caring about continuity a long time ago, so I take each film on its own merit now. After the dumpster fire that was TLK, I had zero faith in BB. However everything I've seen has turned me around, and brought me back. It has that 80's nostalgia that makes it look fun for me, it also looks like the first TF film I can actually take my kids to, being child friendly without being childish. Hasbro has also stated many times this is more of a reboot than a prequel. I personally think the TF franchise needs a long break from the big screen, but one last ride, with a fresh director, Travis Knight, may turn things around. Honestly I can think of dozens of other TF characters I'd rather see a solo film about than Bumblebee, but I'm still cautiously optimistic and looking forward to it.

As for the DCU, I've liked each film on varying levels except Suicide Squad, that film to me can just be erased from history and it wouldn't matter, I'd actually be happier for it. Aquaman looks amazingly fun, I'm definitely looking forward to it. In fact, December has 4 films I want to see, and I *probably* wont see them all in December, if at all, but I want to support them as much as possible, if for no other reason, to take away from the Mary Poppins dominance that is predicted.

My 4 in order of priority are:

1.Into the Spider-verse
2. Bumblebee
3. Aquaman
4. Mortal Engines

-I know that last one is going to get buried, but its been a long time since I've supported an underdog in the cinemas

Kain, do you not see how just because you personally like or don’t like a film doesn’t automatically equate to it being a bad movie? I can’t speak to Avatar since I’ve never seen it, but E.T. and Titanic are certainly not bad movies. In fact, I’d argue both are quite good and E.T. I’d even say is excellent. I love E.T. while I rather dislike Titanic. But I can recognize both are good movies. I dislike Battlefield Earth and I quite enjoy Plan 9 From Outer Space, all while recognizing both to clearly be bad movies. Can you not see the difference?
