I'm not sure if a Star Trek movie by Quentin Tarantino is a good idea. I have to be proven wrong before I accept that idea.

I'm guessing if this really happens the Pulp Fiction/Star Trek mashup jokes will get tiresome, eh?

I have to admit that I haven't seen any of Terrintino's movies so I can't really judge the guy. But there are two things that I already don't like about this.

1. Why does a Star Trek movie need to be rated R? What's the point of this? Is rated R violence really necessary for a good Star Trek movie?

2. Why the heck is JJ Abrams still involved in this? Didn't he do enough damage to Star Trek already?

Hard pass....next.

This is a desperation move to distinguish the brand in a crowded SF market. You can smell Paramount's fear that they'll be the next company on Disney's hitlist.

I'm sure this surprises no one. This is the drawback of having instant access to so much information about the movie business; we keep hearing about all these projects rattling around studio desks and directors' heads, but only a fraction of them ever turn into finished movies.

Good I'm glad. He needs to retire.

The man has done some undeniably interesting, arresting movies throughout his career, but I NEVER could figure out why he'd even want to try a Trek film. In fact, ANY sci-fi film. It's like a gonzo porn director suddenly wanting to direct a Disney film or something. Tarantino simply isn't the right "fit" for ST. The whole idea of swearing-up TREK and beaming for an R rating seemed so ridiculous - like they were trying to be controversial and edgy just for that reason alone; not because it made sense within the context of the story or what have you. It's almost the exact opposite of the recent ROBOCOP remake, where they skewed more friendly just to get a wider audience into theater seats, not because it made more sense from a story standpoint. And we all know how well that turned out.

I've never been really glad before to learn that a film in a franchise I enjoy was NOT getting made, but that is certainly the case here. And in all honesty, the idea of Spock telling Kirk that something seemed "Motherf*cking logical, motherf*cker!" really, really bothered me!
