I miss the days of the franchise being ambitious, just in general. Maybe what’s happening here is what happened in 1999 with Phantom Menace, but it’s just a kick in the pants to see Jurassic Park become a generic blockbuster with no ambitions.

I don’t care about scientific accuracy. I care about the people involved showing care in their film. Jurassic World was so intangible. It got by on fun factor, but it’s like a piece of pepperoni when you want a slice of pizza. 3 has its faults. BIG TIME, but on a level of pushing the effects envelope, it’s still doing some things.

It’s kinda like my biggest complaint against Skull Island: the 33 film was REVOLUTIONARY. The 76 film pushed the effects too. The 05 film as well. Then Skull Island is content to have pretty middle of the road effects. It’s disappointing to see that level of commitment to excellence slide by the wayside.



And even that’s not totally the point when the trailer is as bland and uninteresting as the one for Fallen Kingdom.
If you’re saying “Dinosaurs, I’m in.” Then you’re just admitting that no matter HOW bad it looks, you’d see it? That’s a level of brand commitment I’m not sure I can do.
Although I have been a Bills fan my whole life so...

^Thats long been one of Spielberg’s great strengths. Look at the families in Jaws, Close Encounters, and E.T. They all feel like real people.

At any rate, I still stand by my statement that only the first film was really great. TLW is not terrible, but it has some really corny stuff that seems out of place and feels a lot like an stereotypical cheap sequel from the 70’s or 80’s to me for some reason. Effects-wise, it essentially took the effects from the first and did more of the same but ramped up to the next level. But it wasn’t nearly the groundbreaking event the first film was. It was just a logical evolution of those amazing feats.

JP3 is pretty terrible, but it’s still fun in a crappy B-movie sort of way.

JW is another cheesy B-movie but with a better story and better actors and (I assume) a bigger budget that really knew how to have fun with its ludicrousness.

This new film, based on the trailer, is growing on me. It looks to be another big budget B-movie, but they're (hopefully) using more animatronics/practical effects. And it looks like it’s gonna try out some of the classic dinosaur movie tropes like a big volcanic eruption. I’m not onboard because “ZOMG DINOSAURS!” I’m on board b/c “ZOMG Dinosaurs and volcanoes in a big budget sequel to a franchise that I’ve really enjoyed 3 out of 4 entries so far and returning cast members that I’ve found thoroughly entertaining!”

Feels like a direct response to the "Not the island AGAIN!!!" complaints from the last trailer.

The movie looks like a turd, but a potentially enjoyable one. It should be FUN...and at least they're TRYING with their marketing here.

Seemed to spy a few practical dino effects in there. Looks like a big B movie, like the previous one or (to use another example) the upcoming Rampage. I should be down for a fun B monster movie, but the first Jurassic World just didn't connect with me because I disliked the characters and didn't care for the action. Hopefully this one will connect.

... of course, I wonder if this film'll generate the same buzz as the first? You see, I think a large part of its success was that it just so happened to land at this exact time where there was a sweet spot of nostalgia for the original movie, and Jurassic World road that wave. Will there be the a similar energy this time?

ok, so am I wrong, or does it basically look the same as the Indominus, just a darker shade, and with the Raptor Toe/Claw thing? I mean they've gone full monster-movie which is fine, I am giving this movie probably more of a chance than most folks, I'll probably catch it on a matinee or something, but what am I supposed to be seeing that I haven't seen before?...

Isn't it the indomi-raptor or something? So, yeah, it's basically just a mini indominus.

That trailer seemed pretty spoilery to me. I think I'll avoid watching any more clips.


I've got a bad feeling about this movie. I'll still go see it and I hope it's at least fun to watch but it looks like they're making the action as ridiculous as possible.

Look at all that cool stuff. Mattel really seems to be delivering this year.

Oh man, that looks like possibly the best dinosaur toy line ever! That big T Rex you control with the tail is flipping sweet. I may have to snag some of these for the kiddos... my 2 year old loves triceratops. Of course, it’s way cuter when he says it... Tie-tehr-wa-topppss!

Oh man that Dilophosaur Uno Attack is HI-Lar-Ious!. Unfortunately I'll never purchase another. After a couple of years the gears wear out on that thing, even with new batteries, the cards don't fly out like they should.

Ok, this new trailer is not my cup of tea. I was pretty excited with the previous trailers but this looks like a completely different movie and one with some unintentionally laughable scenes

I was pretty checked out on this movie. The island again? With explosions this time? It looked really dull and generic and wildly uninteresting...I STILL feel like Jeff Goldblum is being held at gunpoint and forced to read his lines but wants nothing to do with being there.


BUT


It finally looks interesting and fun and schlocky and I'm MUCH more in now. Gimme dat schlock. Gimme weaponized mutants and bidding on dinosaurs and dinos running around kids' bedrooms. Let's friggin break this franchise wide open and suck the sweet sweet marrow of its dried up bones instead of just making the same movie over and over. I hope Part III has raptors evolving to become super intelligent and becoming mob bosses.

I also think this trailer seems to show off a more interestingly different movie than the 'same old, same old' of the previous trailers.

I've found something to enjoy in every Jurassic movie, but this one... I don't know. I feel absolutely no pull towards it. I'll probably see it, but if I don't, I'm fine with waiting for Redbox.
