It's amazing how for over two decades the EU was well maintained (for the most part), by *holocron keepers* so as not to have any major inconsistencies between novels, games, comics etc.... But in just about 5 years Disney cant help but keep backtracking and retconning
. Besides, even *if* it was revealed in a Comic that Palpatine was responsible for influencing the Midiclorians to create Anakin's life, that not the same as actually being the *father* of someone.

Wouldn't it be more Abbrams than Disney though? Abbrams was the writer and director for two of the three movies after all.

^ Bunch of infighting shows a lack of consistency. It'll be interesting to see where this all stands when the dust settles....

I finally got to see The Rise of Skywalker and I think it's a terrific conclusion to this Star Wars sequel trilogy. It is a bit overstuffed with action but it isn't overlong. It's not nearly as good as The Last Jedi but it is more original than The Force Awakens insofar as it doesn't just remake its counterpart from the original trilogy. It's certainly the most ambitious entry of the sequel trilogy and it really pays off these characters' journeys.
The narrative parallels with Avengers: Endgame are readily apparent, both of them being "it all ends here"-style, would-be finales to epic sci-fi sagas. I actually thought The Rise of Skywalker had a lot in common with Matt Smith-era Doctor Who in terms of style and tropes.

I wasn't very impressed by TROS. The pacing felt rushed, the plot was nonsensical, and the ending was pretty unsatisfying emotionally. No idea where Disney can really go from here with future films.

Yeah, this is a very fast-paced movie but I thought that worked to its advantage. It's shorter than The Last Jedi and only a little bit longer than The Force Awakens and it's not a story that needed to push past two and a half hours.
I found the conclusion of Rey and Kylo Ren's journeys to be very satisfying.
