... I don't think I'll ever comprehend what a random mish-mash the situation for a Hollywood writer is.

In case you haven't checked the Home Video board: a company report revealed what classic Universal films were being remastered and given new 4K scans, presumably for Blu-Ray release. Son of Frankenstein, Ghost of Frankenstein, Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man, House of Frankenstein, and House of Dracula were all listed, so presumably we'll see the Blu-Ray version of the Frankenstein Legacy Collection soon.

Hmmm... the only reason I can see for making the Mummy a woman in the new movie is if the producers intend for her to look something like this years Mystical Mummy Womens Costume (seen at Halloween costume purveyors everywhere). And if the female Mummy ends up looking like that, chances are the producers will likely introduce what technically would be necrophilia...

Eh, sure, why not? Make Ananka the mummy and have Imhotep be the reincarnation. There's a dearth of female Universal monsters, anyway. The Bride of Frankenstein is incredible, but only has five minutes of screentime. Dracula's daughter is a great performance, but the movie's a bit slight.

I'd rather have a universe stylistically in the vein of the 1993 Bram Stoker's Dracula and if we are going to do do a shared universe then I would rather have the overlap be with Victor Frankenstein, Abraham Van Helsing, Larry Talbot Sr crossing over into each other's side story e.g. Victor Frankenstein chases his creation to Transylvania after the events of Dracula where he runs into Van Helsing who himself is trying to locate Dracula's missing remains or Larry Talbot Sr tracks down Victor Frankenstein in Germany to try and find a cure for his son's Lycanthropy. I'd like them to be written in a pulp style but clearly focused on horror and not action.

Well, that's the most hopeful of the pieces I've read on the upcoming 'monsterverse,' and if nothing else I enjoy that they watched a lot of Hammer films along with the classic Universals to get a feel for everything and one of the guys name checks Cat People.

The only thing that concerns me is that The Rock is basically always in jokey jokester jokiness movies.

...and also terrible movies.

I like the guy a lot and think he has SO much potential, but he chooses such horrible movies, it's maddening.
