Yeah, her mummy costume is pretty much "music video mummy" not traditional mummy. No fault of Boutella's obviously, she isn't the one making the costuming decisions.

I don't really see that at all. Beside's the non-desicated hair she looks pretty traditional. Is it a bit tight? Nowhere near as tight as Christopher Lee's Mummy costume! Now that was a sexy Mummy! It's also obvious that certain bare parts of the costume with be CGI augmented, so I imagine desiccated flesh and holes and whatnot. She's very beautiful, and that comes through the makeup, but I think they'll play with the sexy/scary angle.

Oh, and everyone's saying Javier Bardem is going to end up playing The Monster (as in Frankenstein's). I think he has the potential to be great.

Of course, the bigger question I have is is Universal actually going to give us horror movies with these monster movies or are they just going to make generic CGI explosion porn fests like they did with that god awful Dracula Untold?

It seems like we've had a steady stream of news on the new 'Monster Cinematic Universe' for a long, long time now, but aside from some rather interesting (and big name!) casting I just don't know what to think about this thing.

Anyway, I completed my set of Funko Re-Action Universal Monsters figures with The Phantom of the Opera... would've loved for them to do Ygor and Dr. Pretorius, but I can't complain! They look quite spiffy all lined up.

Dave Callaham will work on the script for a new film based on the 1941 Universal movie.

Hey, the new trailer for The Mummy actually looks like a monster movie and not just a Cruise actioneer with some supernatural stuff attached!



More emphasis on the titular mummy and some other, more traditional mummies, along with swarms of rats and creepy crypts and other good stuff.

First good news for this cinematic universe: Condon's already made a movie about James Whale that dealt with the making of the original film.

Bardem could make a mighty fine Frankenstein's Monster, casting is underway for The Bride, and Johnny Depp is there - but in the final wash he'll be invisible, which I'm sure suits him just fine.

That video also leans heavily into the Phantom of the Opera, so I assume he'll be around.

I just saw it. Kind of an uneven movie. Effects were really good but the story wasn't especially scary. I think they may have not known what exactly to do with it but there are easter eggs in the movie that set up the universe they are trying to establish. Sofia Boutella is a freakin hot mummy. Man she is mesmorizing. I didn't realize that she was in Star Trek Beyond (2016).
