Did I imagine it, or was there a vehicular tribute to the old Aussie film "The Cars That Ate Paris" in MM:FR??? (Spike-covered cars)

BTW... as a HUGE fan of the original fimls, I really dug this new version. Not too crazy about Tom Hardy but the rest was jaw-droppingly impressive to behold. Truly a pristine example of style over substance. Not that the film didn't have some nuggets to chew on, but it was largely a visual assault. The Road Warrior remains my fav, perhaps purely for sentimental reasons, but I honestly think it has the best realization and balance of story vs. visuals of the four films. Going again sometime this weekend. Looking forward to the Blu-ray this fall/Winter.

i didnt think the movie lacked substance due to the large amount of world building and character design. The plot was straight forward, but the film was far from shallow.

Welp, I've seen the movie twice now. I'll probably wait a week or two to see it again, as a seriously beloved movie in the theaters typically earns two return trips from me.

I was happy to see my theater (last night after 10 p.m.) filled almost to capacity - though that's likely because the new releases have pushed Fury Road to fewer showtimes. Something this movie elicits that many of today's action films do not? Gasps! People gasp when characters are in danger!

I finally saw this incredible movie last night and holy "OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!", this film is absolutely METAL! Everything about it is just perfectly refined and it all flows so rhythmically. There are so many rich ideas and mythos-building cues on display that it only takes the movie a few minutes to achieve complete immersion in the harrowing world it presents. The characters here are wonderfully three-dimensional and easy to identify with as they navigate this post-apocalyptic wasteland through masterfully choreographed action sequences with wildly impressive vehicles. Easily one of the best action movies in years and destined to be remembered as a highlight of this decade.

I watched this film for a 3rd time last night and its still awesome. The soundtrack really is all aces as far as I'm concerned. I had the main theme stuck in my head all day today.

I finally saw this yesterday. Great movie. It doesn't do anything new with the post-apocalyptic genre, but doesn't need to, as it's one of most finely crafted expressions of it. My only complaint was Max's lack of impact on the story. You could remove him from the movie and events would play out almost exactly the same.

Yeah, and again, this is something I've come to understand/appreciate the more I've thought about it: I think it's totally appropriate. Max isn't even really human at the beginning (or throughout most of the duration) of the story. He CAN'T thrust the movie forward, because he doesn't care. Furthermore, we as the audience wouldn't really WANT to have a character who's so unrelatable (at the time) being the one we spend most of our time with. It's a story of his journey back to the world of helping (and maybe even caring about) other people. It's only at the end (or near the end) that anyone should really WANT to be around this guy at all.
