I know this is not the right place, but I searched, and there literally is no "Solo" movie discussion thread, which either speaks to the apathy of the fandom, or shows that my skills at searching are just awful (I used advanced search every possible combination)....

But anyway...the Truth of Solo being the first SW film I have officially not seen in the theater is sinking in, and it's a little sad. It's officially gone from the last theater in my area (as of 6 days ago), I thought so many times about going to see it, just to keep the streak alive, no matter how blase' it was; but nope, it didn't happen. I'm sure I'll catch it on Redbox when it comes out, but I'm just a little bummed out I guess, more so that SW has become what it is, than I think missing the actual film...

It was wildly bland. I watched it last night.

Chewbacca was pretty great in it. Everything else is, well, fine I guess (except a certain cameo. Still hate that).

It’s not terrible and it’s got some cool stuff in it (as well as some really lame stuff). But it’s just totally unnecessary. And it feels way too safe imo. Kinda feels like it just follows a “Han solo checklist” down one item at a time until he has all the things we think of when we think of Han Solo.

I dunno. I want to see it again to form a more solid opinion, but I’m not in a big rush to do so... so maybe that tells you something.

Well considering Episode IX was already a done deal, and all the other movies are put on hold, It's seems she wont be doing much the next 3 years. I know there are the animated series and TV shows, but if her *brand* of Star Wars seeps into them, (which it's managed to stay out of so far) then it truly is over.

Star Wars fans have sapped my enthusiasm for Star Wars. Game of Thrones is a dull funeral dirge. Rian Johnson is the only one keeping me interested because The Last Jedi is the only legitimately great Star Wars movie made in my lifetime.

I don't think there has been, or is likely to be a Star Wars movie as divisive as Last Jedi...

Ever.

I don't even really and truly fall into the "HATE IT AND IT RUINED MY LIFE" camp. But I definitely find it boring, overlong, and often clueless as to how to handle its story progression. There are certain ideas it has in the grander scheme of things that I really like, but I think it massively botches the way it arrives at those ideas, and its constant "Woah! What a twist!" moments just wind up drawing my ire.

I've still not watched it since theaters, where my audience was clapping and excited before it started, and walked out largely silent and exhausted as the credits rolled, and the guy next to me fell asleep in the middle. It really made me feel like I'm not a Star Wars fan, I'm just a fan of the Original Trilogy, and as of now, I'm planning on sitting out Episode 9 until home video. Never thought I'd do that, but here we are. And again, it's not that it was SO BAD IT HURT or anything like that, it was just...just dull. It was however many hours in the theater (felt like 14) that I wished I'd been doing...anything else.
