If a deal is made, Crowe would appear as Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

The actor says he will play Dr. Henry Jekyll in 'The Mummy.'

Looks like it has potential. I'm on board so far.

My question is why can't they make a modern day mummy film that doesn't have terrible cartoony cgi?

It does seems like they're leaning a bit more into the horror/thriller aspects than the Sommers Mummy films.

The best part of the trailer is Tom Cruise screaming.

This actually looks pretty interesting. The Mummy was the defining summer blockbuster of 1999 for me and it remains one of my favorite adventure movies. I still think of it as a modern movie even though it's pushing 18 years old at this point, although its last sequel did come out just eight years ago, the same summer as Iron Man and The Dark Knight, so it's not like the franchise has laid dormant for very long. I was afraid this was just going to be a rehash of the '99 film with Tom Cruise in Brendan Fraser's role and a gender-swapped Imhotep but the trailer suggests a totally different premise. I'm intrigued.

“The movie’s called The Mummy, not The Mummy Meets 12 Other Monsters. If we create a world that feels interesting and scary, then we will have succeeded in setting up the larger universe.”

Nope. This movie does not look even remotely good.

Saw a vampire skull in a TV spot yesterday. That can mean only one thing: Count Yorga!
--- edit ---
So they're basically doing Monarch? Jekyll runs the Universal Monsters version of Monarch.

The first reviews for Alex Kurtzman's The Mummy are in, and it's not looking good for the Tom Cruise-starrer.
This may well be the worst film Cruise has ever done.
