First I wanna respond to this
"Great message for kids that."
I don't really get this criticism, because I don't feel books need to teach children lessons.
Also I really don't agree with "everything works out for her in the end." Most of her family is dead or will never be in contact with her again. The guy she ends up with...she kind of ends up with because there's no further purpose. She's living in the ruins of her home, and the two of them are more or less broken.
I mean, I'm not saying these are LITERARY SENSATIONS. In fact, I can care less about them, but I don't agree with that stuff. I've heard people rant and rave about them, but most of those people have been English teachers who are happy kids have moved on from Twilight to something with slightly better writing.
And no, Katniss doesn't make a lot of choices, but that's it, isn't it? She's a symbol that gets manipulated by a number of people throughout the book. It's pretty much just at the end when she finally does something she decides.
I'd type more, but I don't care enough about these books XD. I am hoping the movies are pretty cool though.
