The deals were done ahead of Cannes market screenings.
Head of Sales Charlotte Van Weede negotiated the deals in France, Germany and the Middle East on behalf of Protagonist. The Russian acquisition was negotiated by Nada Cirjanic with Yershov of the Film Depot and director/producer Bekmambetov (Night Watch).
Bekmambetov said: “Gareth is an emerging filmmaker whose raw and powerful talent is showcased by his confident direction and the deft handling of the film’s effects. His visual style is unmistakable and this film is sure to serve as a calling card as he builds his body of work.â€
