I really feel like this is the best the newer series has been in a while. (I don't think I've enjoyed it this much since early Tennant stuff). I've also finally made it to the Jon Pertwee Doctor stuff. One more ep of Spearhead from Space to go and it's really great.

The Zygon Inversion. Best episode since I'm not sure when. The Doctor's speech during the showdown displayed Peter Capaldi's depth as an actor, an extremely powerful moment. And is there anyone out there that doesn't like Osgood? Here's hoping the rest of this season keeps up the upward momentum that we've seen.

We just watched episodes 9 and 10 and my god, episode 9 is hands down the worst episode to come out since "Love and Monsters." It was terrible. Whoever thought it was a good idea to do a found footage episode was an idiot because it did not work. The plot didn't make a lick of sense and it just stops, there was no resolution. The next episode though was great, but I'm really surprised they got rid of Clara like that. DAMN!!

Yeah, my roommate basically tuned out of the show when they said the monsters were the crud from your eyes when you woke up. I'll admit that's a rather ridiculous idea, but there's been a few of those across the series so it's nothing new. But next two episodes were great. The last one, being a Capaldi one man show was kind of fantastic. Although there were a few moments he was too fast and scottish that I lost what he was saying.

That was hands down one of the greatest Doctor Who episodes ever. I think I like it almost as much as Blink and The Girl in the Fire Place.

Another great finale, but it was strange there wasn't some big boom going on in it, but that was a nice change of pace. I can't wait to see what they do with the Time Lords from now on. As a whole, the season was absolutely fantastic even with it featuring one of the worst episodes of the entire franchise, but that was off set by one of the best episodes ever. Calpadi is just as good as Baker and Tennant.

Wow, that was an amazing episode and the best Xmas special since A Christmas Carol. Truly spectacular and this seems to be the end of River.

Finally caught up with DW save for the Christmas Special which I'll be watching tomorrow night after work and before I start RE0 HD.

I really enjoyed Series 9 it's the best one we've had in awhile and damn near every episode was flawless especially the three part finally. I can't wait to see what they decide to do with Series 10 which may be Capaldi's last Series as the Doctor (he's only got a three year contract) which is a shame because he's my second favorite Doctor besides Tennant though he's getting close to being my favorite.

Steve Moffat is leaving Doctor Who with this news it brings bad news we're not getting a season of Doctor Who this year instead just the Christmas special.

I haven't cared for this guy's individual DW episodes, but with his success with Broadchurch I'm willing to give him the benefit of a doubt. Running a show is a totally different skill set than writing a scattering of scripts for someone else's show. Even though it isn't mentioned, it seems assumed that we'll also have a new Doctor to go with the new showrunner. I love Capaldi, so here's how I'm rationalizing it: even with this season-less year, at least that means Capaldi will be acting Doctor for two more years, giving him the same four year term that the previous two actors had.

... aaaand I haven't even seen the last season!!! I found out my cable had dropped BBCA the day of the premier and I haven't got around to it! I'm looking forward to actually seeing it!

I'm pretty surprised that they picked Chris Chibnall to take Steven Moffat's place. I think 42 and The Hungry Earth / Cold Blood are pretty middling episodes, although Dinosaurs on a Spaceship and The Power of Three are much better. Just based on past Doctor Who writing credits, I would have liked to have seen Toby Whithouse as the new head writer. School Reunion, The Vampires of Venice, The God Complex, A Town Called Mercy, and the recent two-parter Under the Lake / Before the Flood from Series 9 are all great stories.

Apparently the rumour was that Toby Whithouse turned the offer down at one point. He's mentioned in the past that he'd rather run his own creations, like Being Human, than be tied down for years doing a show he hadn't created, like Doctor Who, virtually exclusively.

Peter Capaldi has been asked to stay on as the Doctor when Moffat leaves next however he hasn't made a decision yet. On a side note when Moffat took over Tennant was asked to do the same thing and we know how that went. I hope Capaldi stays on for at least one more season. I really enjoy him as the Doctor, he's becoming my favorite Tennant still beats him currently though but this past season was pretty close.

Hey I just saw amazon has the complete season one (with Chris eccleston) up for preorder on bluray. I can only assume the Tennant seasons will follow. Great news for those who, like me, missed out on the limited box set a while back.

While there are probably some slight improvements due to the superior format, the first four seasons were in old fashioned standard definition, and are merely upconverted for Blu.

Yeah I know, but since I don't own them in any format, I'd rather have the blurays and have held off buying the old dvd sets in hopes that the blurays would be rereleased outside that (now very very expensive) limited box set.

Did anybody else go see the latest Christmas special via Fathom events? We saw it at our local theater a few nights ago. I thought it was pretty good. The Ghost superhero was rather silly, but it was intentionally so and I have to admit he was pretty fun. All the little nods and references to the superhero genre made it clear this was a labor of love in honor of comic books and not some cheeky mockery of the genre. And the aliens were pretty cool. I feel like I've seen them before, but can't place them off the top of my head. Either way, they were cool villains. Peter Capaldi is still a great Doctor. He's really giving Tennant a run for top spot as my personal favorite. "I brought snacks...". Haha, that still cracks me up. I'm curious to see how Matt Lucas turns out in the new season. He wasn't terribly impressive in this episode, imo. But at the same time, there were a few moments where he shined that gave a glimpse into how cool he could be if they do a good job with the writing.

Now I'm looking forward to the new season!

Finally watched the special and I actually forgot who that bald dude was for the first few minutes. Thankfully, the year long wait was worth it since this was a very entertaining special. It isn't going to be anywhere near the best of the Xmas specials (the best is still A Christmas Carol), but it was a great one nonetheless. I loved how it started with the kid being a fan of Superman comics and ended up becoming essentially Superman. Not to mention it was done far superior than this garbage universe WB is currently concocting as this guy was actually heroic and hopeful. I can't wait to see what this final season brings.
