Personally, I absolutely LOVE this image. Totally badass. Now if only the rest of the fiilm could be this spot-on. Let's hope the film stick to this. Image was reported to be a legit.

That pic gives me hope. It's hard to get Battle Cat wrong, and that artist definitely nailed it. I'm ready for another He-Man movie, particularly since I finished watching "She-Ra" a few nights ago. (He-Man and Skeletor turn up a lot in that show, FYI.)

Christopher Yost sounds like a good choice, Marvel's Thor movies have a lot of the same sensibilities that a good MOTU movie should have. I'd love to see Terry Rossio's draft -- I'm certain it's a great story.

News of re-writes can be frustrating, but it seems to me that the people at Sony are genuinely interested in developing MOTU into a great movie franchise. And truly, Sony needs a franchise that can bring in moviegoers; circumstances required Sony to loosen their grip on Spider-Man movie rights, and The Green Hornet could have been a true challenger to the Nolan Batman films if they hadn't given the project to Seth Rogen.


EDIT: I was reading over at He-Man.org and found out the Christopher Yost has some impressive credentials (more than just his work on the Thor movies); Yost was head writer on both Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes & Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Heroes (2006) and has worked on several comics at Marvel & DC.

The only thing that I understand the McG did that's not total crap is Charlie's Angels. But even then it's not something that has me excited to see him tackle this property.

The primo December 18, 2019 release date is especially reassuring that it seems that Sony wants a good MOTU movie (likely even series of movies). It's too bad the Sony executives didn't take the same care when it came to the Green Hornet movie.

As a big a part of my childhood MOTU was, I just don't see how they can get this right. Everyone in Hollywood seems to want to make this a joke or parody kind of like so many 70's/80's live-action shows turned comedies. Now I'm not saying this has to be dark and gritty like Nolan's Batman Trilogy or recent DCU, but a decent action/adventure movie would be nice. The 2002-2003 Animated series I think is the single best interpretation of MOTU we've ever had, with the decent DC Comic series as a close second (though I think that would play way too dark for a film) , thus the 2002-2003 animated series is my best reference.

But with all the changes in studio, and no one seemingly willing to commit, I honestly don't think there is anyone in Hollywood right now who has enough passion or knowledge about this property to do it right. I really don't want to be a downer, but I'm not looking forward to this at this point, hopefully I might be surprised and like what I see in time. But announcing a release date in 2 1/2 years with basically nothing in place just seems way far-fetched to me.
