This is supposed to be Venom?? If this thing didn't have the name Venom slapped on it I would never know it was a movie about Spiderman's ultimate villain. What the heck is wrong with these people? Why on Earth make a movie about a comic book character that has nothing to do with the comic book? Comic book fans are probably going to hate it, and non comic book fans won't even know it's based on a comic book. So what is the point of calling it Venom? Why not just call it The Black Poison or something?

Though Venom IS only interesting when directly associated with Spider-Man, so...there's that.

Well I'm not against a Venom stand alone movie. There have been a number of Venom stand alone comics which were quiet good and entertaining. My problem with this movie is that it's not Venom. A good time for a Venom movie would be when he's already been established in a Spiderman film, then you can spin him off in his own movie, which should have appearances by Spiderman.

Sony is just so greedy and impatient that they just want to rush a generic crap starring Tom Hardy with the name Venom slapped on it. The funny thing is, they would make a lot more money if the movie was actually based on Venom.

Anyway, that's enough of my ranting lol

That was like the most generic, unispiring trailer for an alien movie I have ever seen. Even Alien Covenant had a better trailer. Sony is clearly banking on the name Venom selling the movie.

Here's my pitch for a Venom movie: do it like a Road Runner cartoon, with Venom as Wile E. Coyote and Spider-Man as the Road Runner. We follow Venom's many mishaps as he continually tries to trap and kill the rascally trickster Spider-Man. Spider-Man would never be seen out of costume and communicate via word balloons like in The Electric Company.

Give me $100 million SONY.

I have to admit it doesn't look as bad as I thought. But still, this movie is pointless without Spiderman.

Well Venom looks and sounds better than his appearance in Spider-Man 3, but the movie doesn't look all that great.

Well he sounds better because it's not just Topher Grace (or in this case Tom Hardy's) voice augmented with synthesizer. I believe it's a completely different actor altogether. At first hearing to me it sounds like Tony Todd: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0865302/ , which isn't a bad choice as far as voices go. But I could be wrong. As for the appearance. I agree with comments I'm seeing online. It looks the same as Venom from SM3 (11 years ago), only more *wet*. Not really hyped for this.

This new trailer sucks. The cg, acting and overall tone of the trailer is as generic as any pre-X-men superhero movie.
