I think if I HAD to rank them, it'd probably go something like:
Planet of the Apes (original)
Conquest (structurally a little clunky, but the imagery and tone are too perfect)
Escape (such a good script)
Battle (fun, fun, fun)
Dawn (solid script, solid performances)
Beneath (weird, deranged, unforgettable)
War (works well enough, but kinda forgettable)
Rise (filling in meaningless mechanical details)
Planet of the Apes (Burton)
Tokyo, a smoldering memorial to the unknown, an unknown which at this very moment still prevails and could at any time lash out with its terrible destruction anywhere else in the world.
