Akira is a story that means a lot to me, so having such a hack moron in charge of a live action adaptation deeply saddens me. And I do think a live action version can work, as an epic Japanese/American coproduction, with the right people in charge. But knowing Hollywood today, with a studio tool like Collet-Serra... it'll be diluted beyond repair. Just look at the man's track record, just mediocre horror movies and Liam Neeson action vehicles...

Nothing to do with the movie, but this interpretation of Akira as an American comic book is neat.
