Shang Tsung is a cloud.
Raiden is 14 years old.
Sonya Blade is a writer.
Johnny Cage, Scorpion and Sub-Zero are absent*, but Drahmin, Nitara and some new protagonist no one will care about are present.
Liu Kang is a ninja and Kung Lao is his brother.

If this trash is real and gets turned into a film, I swear to God...

* You know what you do when your script doesn't have room for MK's most iconic characters? You damn well make room.

And yet...you can't totally dismiss everything. How often have we been outright told by filmmakers "Nah. Don't believe [rumor]" only for [rumor] to be at least partially true (if not COMPLETELY true)?

Turning an iconic character into a cloud sounds like a purposeful callback to the backlash over Galactus in Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer. That part, at least, is probably just meant to troll the fans.

Greg Russo indicated in another tweet that Sonya Pen and Teen Raiden were old ideas that have since been excised. So at least bits of the character breakdown were, at one point, legitimate. I can't say that inspires a lot of confidence (what terrible ideas are they still retaining?) but I won't panic until I see something official from the production.
