Apparently Bong Joon-ho has a new monster movie that everyone wants to be in and it even, in part, takes place in New York but the real question is - is it a giant monster movie??:

You had me at Bong Joon-ho. I loved Snowpiercer and The Host. At this point I'll check out anything he's attached to.

Ooooooh.... super excited for him to return to the genre. The Host is one of the best monster films in decades.

Apparently this is being made by Netflix and Brad Pitt's production company (so it'll premier on Netflix) and will come out in 2017!

Throw it on the 'movies to get excited for in 2017' pile!

Interesting that both Bong and Guillermo del Toro are both releasing movies about good monsters being rescued or protected from evil (or at least antagonistic) corporations/governments in 2017. The main difference so far seems to be that Okja looks to be more of an E.T. relationship while GDT is going for full-blown romance between human and monster.

It's seems the creature (a hippopig?) isn't so large... at least, not a first.

its interesting to see that Bong Joon-ho reteamed with Tilda Swinton. She apparently won him over enough to change the gender of Mason in Snowpiercer. Also, watching the bonus features on Snowpiercer it seemed like she was the only cast member that had a good answer to what the theme of the movie was. If i remember correctly Chris Evans answer was something like "I don't know, class warfare i guess".

I thought during the early goings of this film that Evans was supposed to be in it? Maybe he would've played the part that's ended up going to Jake Gyllenhaal?

Not a traditional creature feature, but I'm certainly getting a modern Mighty Joe Young vibe.

I think I talked about it in "Recently watched movies" but definitely a Mighty Joe Young vibe film.

It was good, not quite great....but what Jake Gyllenhaal was doing...THAT was great.
