Woah. Looks neat! A shame I'll probably never see the full thing.

I think if I described my reaction to that one shot, I'd break pretty much every rule against obscenity this board has.

There'd be too much nerd juice flowing freely in the world if that happened...the world would be flooded and not with water, know what I'm saying? (high fives himself ...and then thinks about how what a truely awful way to die that'd be....high five retracted.)

Everyone's favorite manic depressive anime creator had his exhibit open last week.

Here's a look inside (I really like that the kaiju is a God Warrior from Miyazaki's Nausicaä). A LOT of Godzilla/Gamera/Ultraman props were on display.

And here Anno lists his favorite Toku series/films. A lot of love for Godzilla and Ultraman here. :)

Nice find MFW... I think Kiryugoji04 will be especially interested in the first link with all of the miniature set shots.

I've never heard of Mighty Jack until now...I must find out more.

MST3K did an epsiode on the Sandy Frank compilation movie of Mighty Jack. It is so boring that even the MST3K crew had a hard time coming up with material for it. It was released in the set with Time of the Apes from Shout Factory. Look through the DVD thread for info on that release.

Mighty Jack was the series that Tsuburaya did right after Ultraseven. It had Kenji Sahara, Hideyo Amomoto, and Masahara Nehei among a crew of secret agents who opposed the mysterious "Q", your standard world dominating organization. Their primary weapon was a flying battlesub called Mighty Jack. The show ran for thirteen hour long episodes, so the stories tend to be more complex than the standard half hour shows. Also the focus was more on characters rather than monsters or machines.

There was a follow up series called Fight! Mighty Jack, which was a half hour show and had the more traditional aliens and monsters.

I have the first series and have enjoyed watching them, FWIW. :)

Did any of you guys watch Anno's own 1983 Ultraman fan movie that was in the Anno's Top 5 link I posted?

Pretty impressive stuff! :D

I've been shouting at people to watch that for AGES. It is (A), one of the primary inspirations for Ultraman Sorta (obviously) and (B), the main thing that convinced me that we could successfully incorporate miniatures into our own productions.
