I got this in from Netflix the other day and watched it last night. I didn't really care for it at all. Its not the abomination people said it was (as usual, kaiju fans were pretty hyberbolic in their hate of a movie, just like they are when they love something *coughGMKcough*).
The acting was so bad that it WASN'T funny, the stock footage was a gyp, and it really wasn't all that funny. And this is coming from someone who loves the bizarre sense of humor that the Japanese have.
The biggest problem with the movie is that its just boring. Its not funny, so there's nothing to keep anybody interested. It felt more low budget than almost every kaiju movie I've ever seen and it tried WAY too hard with a lot of the humor, which really just made the whole movie feel pointless. It begs the question... why even make something like this?
If this was more in line with something like Zebraman, Ultraman Zearth, or even some of Kawasaki's own other works, it would have been great. Instead its just... there.
