Just pledged. I'm a sucker for Indie Style fan film. I really like this take on the Godzilla universe.

I am intensely curious about how they're going to execute their miniature sets. They give a detailed rundown of basically every major player/department and then, "Also, we're going to do miniatures." I want to know more.

I just wish I didn't hate pretty much all of the concept designs we've seen thus far...

...I'll still support this by like, I dunno, maybe purchasing a copy or something if that becomes an option, or maybe I'll donate the $10 for a digital download or whatever but...the monster designs are just YUCKY to me.

I think its interesting that the folks at Legendary can make a design closer in spirit than what fans seem to make.

This interests me from the aspect of practical effects. I want to see how good they can do it! Monster designs though... eh.. It's what I worried what Legendary would do with their Godzilla and MUTO designs

Shouldn't this be in the General section since this is a fan film?

What was the goal of phase 1? $20K for new video equipment and the teaser?

I did the 300 dollar one. Come on guys, Let's see how it goes.

So far I like what I see, pretty impressive for a fan film.

I'm still not digging their Godzilla design, don't know why they went for that look since to me it looks more like Zedus (from Gamera the Brave) than Godzilla, but everything else looks really good!



Hopefully the film will be available online someday, would love to check it out if/when it ever gets finished. Hopefully Toho won't shut them down.

Personally, I think all the monster designs for this look unbelievably horrendous and totally wrongheaded, but that's just me.

I met these guys at Denver Comic Con the other day. That is all I am willing to say.

I don't understand this need to approach the movie like THE DARK KNIGHT (DARKuuhhh. Dark.. DAAARK).

There are already darker Godzilla movies out there. Gojira, Godzilla vs Hedorah, Terror of Mechagodzilla, The Return of Godzilla, GMK.

And then there's darker Toho tokusatsu films like Matango, Submersion of Japan, and Prophecies of Nostradamus.

There are plenty of ways to create a dark atmosphere, or an impending mood of dread without having to resort to this kind of nonsense. This kind of production design is just... so tired by now.

I really like his ideas/story behind his fan film, sounds like he's really passionate about Godzilla and getting his fan film finished. It was really great hearing about his vision of Godzilla, and why he chose to go with the design that he did. And while I understand his reasons, and it makes perfect sense actually, but I am still not sold on his Godzilla design.

In any case, I wish him and his crew the best with his movie. Looking forward to seeing it someday.

And I'll bring it up again, the monster designs for this movie are ass. I can understand '"trying to go for a more plausible design", but Legendary by comparison did that much better.

Varan, Kumonga, Mothra, are barely recognizable as to what they are. Especially Varan who looks like a generic giant lizard. I guess Anguirus and Godzilla can pass off as themselves, but only barely.

If they want people to feel like they are within the monsters---

argh I just heard the word grittier. Why?

If the creators want it to feel like the viewers are within the monster action, this is bothersome. What is this? Transformers movies? Still not sold on this, though thanks for sharing this podcast.

I do like the thick crocodilian skin on Godzilla, but the rest of him is meh. And Angilas is a little too dinosaurian for my taste, but still overall a cool piece of art none the less.
