That was my feeling as well. Especially considering they had already raised ~$20K from the fandom and only put out a minute of footage before asking for another $40K.

It would have been fine if they'd already had experience making monster movies and had those previous movies to show their capabilities but with basically no material on display, there's no way people can trust them to deliver.

Seems like this fan film is still kicking. Here are some footage from their Facebook page. Still not entirely sold on their monster designs, but still looks impressive and am glad that the project didn't die as I thought it would have.

The director mentioned that the below are not the finished renders, but is close to what it will be. It's also interesting and sad that they had to abandon practical effects and stick with mostly CGI. But I guess that's the result of not getting enough funding.
