Congrats! You've been hired by Toho as a consultant on their new Godzilla franchise due to the wild success of Godzilla 2014! Toho learned their lesson on continued reboots last round, so they want you to choose which timeline you'd like to continue for a Japanese franchise.
Here are some options!
1. Showa Timeline Post Terror of Mechagodzilla
2. Showa Timeline Post Destroy all Monsters
3. Godzilla's Revenge
4. Heisei
5. Godzilla 2000
6. Godzilla X Megaguirus
7. GMK
8. Kiyru Movies
9. GFW
10. Screw your rules, I want to see another reboot!
So, which do you choose and why?
Personally I'd really love to see a poster Terror of Mechagodzilla super hero film. I would ignore Destroy All Monsters since its existence kind of messes with Showa continuity. (I mean seriously, did they build Monster Island in the 1970s for Gigan, or what?) I always felt that Terror of Mechagodzilla wasn't a fitting enough end to the Showa franchise. Sure Godzilla swims off into the sunset, but it's always sad not knowing what exactly happens to him.
Next up, I'd love to see a Jr. film as a continuation of Heisei. I don't mind if they go all out with this franchise. By Godzilla vs. Spacegodzilla and Destroyah it was going down a Sentai path quickly with G-Force. A Godzilla sympathetic to humanity fighting along side a team of giant robots? That could be AWESOME in the right hands.
Interested in at least: Kiryu movies. The films are okay as a 2-parter, but I still fill like it should have been a part of a trilogy. I want to know what happens to that Godzilla DNA that the humans held onto at the end of the film. A clone-zilla movie could be an interesting film in the spirit of Godzilla vs. Biollante.
I really don't give a sh!t about: Any of the other Millennium timelines.
