Barry's Temple of Godzilla for me, it's almost nice to see it unchanged after all these years. I wonder if he'll at least go back to post a Godzilla 2014 review. Another one would be Kaiju Headquarters, which I don't think is around anymore...

I've been a member of the Toho Kingdom forums for the past few years. I've visited SciFi Japan for at least as long, but only just now joined the forums because of the embargo lifted on certain kinds of email accounts.

Most likely Barry's Temple of Godzilla.
Not really sure when, but most likely around 1997-1998.
My parents had dial-up internet (Juno IIRC).

That was before I became active on various forums.

Since it was dial-up, I couldn't be on very long.

Maybe someone will remember this... but I have a vague memory of "attending" a virtual Godzilla convention back in the late 90s? There were different chat rooms open with guest speakers and such. Does this ring a bell with anyone? I was young at the time so don't remember quite fully....

If I remember correctly G Project died out around late 2002 or early 2003. It had alot of trolling and hacking problems towards the end by the same bunch of losers that were here at MZ causing trouble back then. In the late 90's though G Project was a real lively place and had alot of good people running it like Jim Walsh and Gertrude Smith. Unfortunately the Way Back Machine archive seems hit and miss on what it saves. I think some threads you may be able to access but you'll have to hunt through the entire site and different dates/years and see what comes up. I did have a few threads open that I checked but they may have been for different years than the one I posted.

Mine was definitely Barry's Temple. At my mom's work who had internet, Netscape I believe. Printed off a ton of pictures. I want to say this was '97-98. I know it was before Godzilla 2000 but I can't remember if it was before Zilla '98 or not.

I want to say before I found Monster Zero, maybe even concurrently, I remember visiting a site that was more geared toward role-playing monster fights. There were different chat rooms for different locations with midi "battle" music playing.

Monster Zero was one of my first big introductions. Of course, this was in the late 90's and early 2000's. I was around 9 or 10 years old, and started to realize how much stuff you can find on the net. I'd come here all the time to read articles about Godzilla figures, upcoming Godzilla movies(GxM and GMK at the time). Then I found Rodan's Roost, The Monster Galaxy, Barry's Temple of Godzilla, Toho Kingdom, and a few other smaller sites, to which I forgot the names of. I remember there was a time when there was kind of a boom in Godzilla and Kaiju sites around the early 2000's, there would be 2 or 3 core sites, then 5 or 6 smaller ones that tried building off of that.

It was both Barry's Temple of Godzilla and Conster's Museum of Godzilla the first Godzilla'a sites I saw on the internet.

Ok so I'm dating myself a little here but yes I remember alt.movies.monster. I was around during the time of Barry's Temple and Connie's Museum. Back in 95-2000 I was a lot more active in the Godzilla fan community. I ran a website via Geocities (anyone remember Geocities?) dedicated to Mothra. Particularly I liked to focus on the new Mothra trilogy that was coming out at the time. Infant Island was the name of the website....it disappeared into cyberspace when I left college but those were the days. I miss the internet back then. It was a much simpler place and fans seemed more active. Gosh I even remember buying my first vinyls online because of the joy of the internet. Ahhh...good times.

I seriously have been bitten by a Godzilla nostalgia bug and am remembering the late nineties when I discovered Barry's Temple and Conster's Museum, and then of course, the existence of the Heisei films (I even watched SpaceGodzilla a few days ago; I think it's connected to all this, haha).

I visited Conster's page too, just over the weekend. It is kind of neat to still see it as I remembered it (though some of the Flash didn't work; I think I have some features blocked, I dunno).

I distinctly remember scrolling down one of her dark-background pages, with a foreboding Ifukube MIDI playing in the background, and seeing a picture of Godzillasaurus, with the bloody wound in his mouth, and knowing this was from King Ghidorah, which I had yet to see.

And I distinctly remember reading the synopsis for Godzilla vs. Destroyer (screw "Destoroyah," whatever the hell that is) and pretty much flipping out at how intense it sounded.

All those framed websites, all those little animated Godzilla icons, ah, the memories....

I just happened to check out Barry's Temple tonight to see if he had anything to say about the movie and low and behold he actually made a post. His first in 9 years. Go check it out. Cool to see him back.
