Best Gamera Film 1965-1980

I've really come to appreciate Gamera vs. Gyaos. It's definitely the "best" of the series but Guiron will always be my favorite.

Zigra had such a serious tone at first that was kinda a frightening sci fi flick, especially Zigra talking about eating all the people of Earth, but by the end it looked rushed and Gamera appeared more human like. Shame because Zigra is an interesting kaiju.

Best Showa Gamera for me is vs. Jiger.

So I've been trying to watch these and while I enjoy each film individually (except Super Monster Gammera that film is awful) this is probably the worst series in the world to marathon. Each film feels the need to recap every film that comes before it so the recaps and stock footage just keeps getting longer and longer from film to film.

If you had asked me this question back in the 70s when I was a kid watching these, I would've said Guiron, then Gyaos. But being much, much older now, I say Gyaos and Barugon as I appreciate the more serious tone of these two movies instead of the other kiddie-centric films.

Gamera vs Jiger has the most dangerous of Gamerás foes, she was the closest to actually kill Gamera, and the movie itself is pretty good.

Also Gamera vs Gyaos has one of the best flying scene in kaiju films.

From a story standpoint Barugon is the best imo, but my favorite from an entertainment perspective is guiron.
