Ugh, I just realized this is premiering in America. I can only imagine this will be some all-CGI teaser crap like that Ultraman trailer that everyone went ga-ga over.

Despite being a lifelong Godzilla devotee I have to admit Gamera's post-Showa films have been superior to Godzilla's. Let's see if the streak continues!

Eh... I'll have to sit and digest this. CG isn't even as good as Ultraman's but it looks watchable.

Looks really cool! The animation isn't Hollywood quality in terms of detail, but it's very stylish and dynamic. Looks like folks who wanted a return to the style of the '90s trilogy will be happy, but we're still getting some 'friend of children' stuff, too.

I'd prefer practical effects, but seeing as how the two best traditional Tokusatsu effects guys working today are currently making a Godzilla film and an Ultraman TV show I can't complain.

Yuasa thought Kaneko's films were too dark and not in the spirit of Gamera.


Imagine what he'd say about something where we see a kaiju's skin boil and eyeball explode from the heat of fire.

Between that, cheap CG, and Gyaos, AGAIN, a new Gamera film is at the bottom of my kaiju hype list. Too bad.

i kind of loved that. I'd say my top 2 Gamera flicks are GotU and GtB and this looks very tonally different.

I was middling on the CGI until the Gyaos got fragged, then I think it took a dive. I would have much preferred practical effects. That said, the project doesn't look terrible overall. If nothing else, I like the Gamera 3-esque tone. We'll see where this goes.

I thought that CGI was pretty impressive, at least for the first three minutes. I admit I'm a little concerned about how reminiscent of G2014 it seems, but honestly I am seriously excited now.
I mean, that practically came out of nowhere.

So I guess there was some new Gamera movie announced. I watched what I guess is the trailer and it must be very far out from being completed because the CGI looked like Saturday morning cartoon quality. Not only that, but someone took way too much admiring the Batman vs Superman trailer because it is all dark and desaturated looking. Looks pretty bad actually and nothing remotely Gamera-esque.

Really? Because I don't recall Gamera movies looking desaturated, dark, and depressing looking. Even the Kaneko trilogy was still colorful and bright. This looks like they just took over the Attack on Titan set, but forgot to make actual suits.

Irys was all CGI? Well then this movie has no excuse as to why the CGI in it looks like it came before Irys. Hell, the CGI on this looks like it came out of a 90s cartoon. It doesn't even look as good as the CGI in Star Wars Rebels.

Sorry, but I am not the least bit impressed. It looks like it is going to be Daiei's version of Batman vs Superman.

It's been a while since I've watched it, but that looks fine to me.

Anyway, August said this is actually just a concept trailer, not what the final product will look like, so that works for me.
