I've got half of a script for what I'm assuming is an American Gamera remake. I have no idea how legitimate it is--- but it's quite good.

Does anyone have any idea who had the rights to Gamera, or if anything is going on? The document is titled, "The Guardian" and from what I have, it appears to be:



I've had this for the better part of a year, and nobody in my circle has any clue what it's all about. Is it fan produced? Any ideas?

Truly a fascinating discovery i wonder if it's possible to find the rest of the script.

I have pages 1-50.

No idea where to get the rest or where it even came from.

There is another monster that has massive air intakes on it's back. It takes massive bites out of buildings or the ground, and heats it to slag in it's mouth before expelling it. When it launches the slag ball, the "bellows" on it's back "clap shut" and project it out in a massive blast.

Pretty cool.

The link with Gamera also seems to influence the boy- a little bit like the black suit in Spider-Man but to a much lesser extent.

Oh for "OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!"'s sake that sounds awful. Why do we need another "deathly serious" take on Gamera? I'm not dead set against an American Gamera remake (though I have my reservations...because Americans would have to turn something whimsical into a "deathly serious" wannabe Nolan film). What's wrong with making a whimsical Gamera film for kids?

Yeah, I want more Gamera like Gamera the Brave. Let Godzilla take the deadly serious route, and Gamera appeal to kids.

That said, the "heats to slag" stuff sounds like a really cool idea.

And besides, maybe this other creature uses this power to lay waste to cities, but then it hits Gamera and Gamera's all, "Psssh. Please"

What I've read has more in common with Iron Giant than the new Godzilla- it's *occasionally* light, just not in a pandering kiddy sort of way. Kinda like the later Harry Potter films? There's a fair bit of fun and whimsy (the script is quite funny) but the monsters are still treated with reverence. They're scary. Gamera is still something to be feared ala G3, but he comes off a little more Draco from Dragonheart (minus the talking) in his quieter moments. I'd really like to read the rest.

It sounds interesting I will admit. I'd be much more interested in a Miyazaki-like approach BUT if it has to be something a little more 'real world' this is probably the way to go.

I for one don't mind "dark and mature" Gamera *OR* "kiddie oriented" Gamera. I like them both. Just give me more, please.

If done right, it can be a classic. I don't like the idea of an american Gamera because after what happened with GINO. But who knows if the director is a big Gamera fan and can do justice.

IMO, 2015 is Gamera's 50th anniversary, its possible that its under wraps to avoid competition with G2014 movie.

I've heard of this. Isn't that the spec script that's been floating around Hollywood for a while?

It sounds cool, but I have a hard time seeing the American general audience ever taking Gamera "seriously". Even with this new Godzilla film, the less informed are still talking about the inherent campiness of the franchise.

It's very different tonally. I think it could work as written, although I have no idea how it concludes.

It was grounded like Iron Man- not a lot of camp.
