IMO, I don't want an American Gamera. Leave him in his Japanese and kaneko roots. Right now, its too delicate to americanize Gamera, it can ruin him forever if not done right ala Gino. Godzilla has a stronger resume and is backed by Toho but Gamera only has 12 films under his shell and The Brave, although well thought out, flopped out.
What Gamera needs is another trilogy from Daiei to pick it up again.

I think Joe Cornish is my top pick now, especially after watching the behind the scenes on 'Attack the Block' (which coincidentally features kids and men in creature suits)
