Anyway, I went on a Gamera binge last night, and this was the second one I picked (I was just randomly grabbing them off the shelf). I really like this movie a lot. The characters weren't annoying or badly portrayed (I thought, anyway), and there was plenty of monster action. Great fun from what was probably the best Gamera movie since '68.

Still can't get the elephant trunk scene out of my head...

Been making my way through the Showa Gamera films thanks to the new blu-rays. I finally came to this flick this morning and I have to say that it's still not one of my favorites...frankly I still find it boring! I don't know what it is but I guess I just don't like Jiger's design that much. Most Gamera battles aren't nearly as entertaining as Godzilla's in my opinion and even with 3 battles in this film I feel like I'm just waiting for it to be over. Maybe I'm suffering from Gamera burnout by this point I don't know.

I don't feel the cast has nearly the chemistry either of Gamera vs Guiron. I just have a hard time connecting with them and being interested in the story. This movie ranks near the bottom of the series for me.

I didn't remember a LOT of this movie and I think I liked it a lot more this time, but still am feeling mega kaiju'd out. I'm going through these blu rays to make sure there are no glitches or anything, but I think for me, watching the Gamera films back to back to back to back like I've been doing night after night after night is not the right thing.

I enjoy the Showa films on almost entirely ironic levels, and my sense of irony and good humor is being worn thin by Gamera's terrible movies.

I'm also honestly kind of disappointed there's no dub on these blurays. I knew that going in, but I'm finding that I'm not a big enough Gamera fan to really want to follow subtitles with great fervor. I have a feeling I should maybe even just sell these blu rays and pick up the Shout! DVDs that I still lack so I can have the option for dubs.

I usually get bored by this one. I think it's because of the low level of quality with the Gamera films and the fact that Jiger, despite the parasitic baby thing, isn't that interesting looking. I dunno. I mean, that's an awful way to view these films, but I never find myself engaged by the Showa Gamera films in the way I am with most Showa Godzilla movies so it usually comes down to the monster fights/designs/insanely stupid things in the film.

This film features a nauseating larve-infested elephant trunk surgery film. (Fake yes, but pretty darn well done if you ask me.)

Larve-infested elephant trunk tops all other Showa Gamera Films/Foes. EASY WINNER. NO CONTEST.

Recently picked up volume 2 of that Mill Creek Blu-Ray set of the Showa movies (already have the '90s ones except Little Braves on Blu-Ray).
Watched this movie.

Man it looked pretty good.
So are these the same kids from Guiron?
Liked the "Fantastic Voyage" like bit of them going inside Gamera.

Noticed the guy who played the cop Kon in Guiron was a bit bigger role this time.
