Special Thanks to Avery Guerra
The new DVD edition of RAIGA: GOD OF THE MONSTERS (深海獣雷牙, Shinkaijū Raiba, 2009) is starting to hit Walmart stores nationwide – just $9.96! Given these strange times, the release is facing an uphill battle. Distributor SRS Cinema (who have been seeking out some amazing, rare, never released before indie Kaiju/Tokusatsu movies) are asking fans to help support the movie and director Shinpei Hayashiya by spreading the news out to their friends and family.
In RAIGA, global warming leads to excessive melting of the southern polar ice cap, disrupting Earth’s ecosystem. The receding ice brings long dormant ancient sea creatures back to life, monsters that set their sights on Japan. Among the kaiju is an enormous sea beast the locals refer to as the legendary Raiga. The monster attacks the city of Asakusa, bringing death and destruction as he tramples building and lays waste to the military. Can Raiga be stopped, or will all of Japan be destroyed by his fury?
Fans can pick up copies of the DVD in store (If not on the shelves, ask a sales associate to help. Most stores have stock but may not have put it out yet given how crazy things are). If they can’t make it to your local Walmart, they can order it online at walmart.com/ip/Raiga-God-Of-The-Monsters-DVD
Running Time: 81 Minutes
Language: Japanese with English Subtitles
