MY HERO ACADEMIA: HEROES RISING In Theaters Tomorrow!
Funimation Films, the theatrical division of Sony Pictures Television’s Funimation will release the new Toho Co Ltd. feature film MY HERO ACADEMIA: HEROES RISING (僕のヒーローアカデミア THE MOVIE ヒーローズ：ライジング, Boku no Hīrō Akademia THE MOVI Hīrōzu: Raijingu, 2019) as a limited theatrical engagement in both Japanese (English subtitles) and English dub.
MY HERO ACADEMIA: TWO HEROES (僕のヒーローアカデミア THE MOVIE ～２人の英雄～, Boku no Hīrō Akademia THE MOVIE ～２-ri no Hīrō～, 2018), the first ever film from the franchise, was a huge hit with U.S. and Canadian audiences and screened in 556 U.S. and Canadian theaters during its release, which included a two-week extended run to meet overwhelming ticket demand from fans. When MY HERO ACADEMIA: TWO HEROES finally closed, it grossed an astounding $5,768,366 at the box office and ranked #10 on the Top 10 list of highest grossing domestic anime films of all time — surpassing THE WIND RISES ($5.2M) by legendary director Hayao Miyazaki.
The number one hero anime is back in theaters for a battle beyond anything fans have ever seen! Class 1-A visits Nabu Island where they finally get to do some real hero work. The place is so peaceful that it’s more like a vacation… until they’re attacked by a villain with an unfathomable Quirk! His power is eerily familiar, and it looks like Shigaraki had a hand in the plan. But with All Might retired and citizens’ lives on the line, there’s no time for questions. Deku and his friends are the next generation of heroes, and they’re the island’s only hope.
