KAIJU DECODE: Tsuburaya Productions and Toei Animation Partner For New CG Anime
Tsuburaya Productions Co., Ltd. and Toei Animation Co., Ltd. have announced the joint production of a new animated work, KAIJU DECODE (怪獣デコード, Kaijū Dekōdo). Takayuki Tsukagoshi, Chairman and CEO of Tsuburaya Productions. explained that, “I have wanted more people to enjoy monsters, which are the cornerstones of Tsuburaya Productions. Then I came across this “Story of a Monster and a Girl” (怪獣と少女の物語, Kaijū to Shōjo no Monogatari) project. Toei Animation, with whom we have partnered this time, is an anime production company with a long history of high quality works in Japan. They have produced many masterpieces for girls. By combining the respective skills of each company, this project will appeal to a worldwide audience of all ages.”
Katsuhiro Takagi, President of Toei Animation, added, “In addition to the production technology that Tsuburaya and Toei have already developed, we will must go to the next level in order to confront the challenges presented by this new project. The producer of KAIJU DECODE is Koichi Noguchi, a veteran of both Tsuburaya and Toei Animation. He studied with Richard Edland at BOSS FILM STUDIOS in Los Angeles, and was in charge of VFX production for SPECIES (1995), WATERWORLD (1995), and AIR FORCE ONE (1997). He was later in charge of VFX for for the Tsuburay Producttions movies ULTRAMAN TIGA: THE FINAL ODYSSEY (ルトラマンティガ THE FINAL ODYSSEY, Urutoraman Tiga THE FINAL ODYSSEY, 2000) and ULTRAMAN COSMOS VS ULTRAMAN JUSTICE: THE FINAL BATTLE (ウルトラマンコスモスVSウルトラマンジャスティス THE FINAL BATTLE, Urutoraman Kosumosu VS Urutoraman Jasutisu THE FINAL BATTLE, 2003), and was the VFX supervisor for Toei’s YAMATO (男たちの大和, Otoko-tachi no Yamato, 2005), HAYABUSA: THE LONG JOURNEY HOME (はやぶさ 遥かなる帰還, Hayabusa Harukanaru Kikan, 2012), SAKURA GUARDIAN IN THE NORTH (北の桜守, Kita no Sakuramori, 2018), and TALKING THE PICTURES (カツベン!, Katsuben!, 2019). He was also the producer of EXPELLED FROM PARADISE (楽園追放 -Expelled from Paradise-, Rakuen Tsuihō -Expelled from Paradise-, 2014) and KADO: THE RIGHT ANSWER (正解するカド, Seikai Suru Kado, 2017).
Koichi Noguchi is working with Masahiro Onda. Onda’s credits for Tsuburaya Productions include ULTRA GALAXY LEGEND SIDE STORY: ULTRAMAN ZERO VS DARKLOPS ZERO (ウルトラ銀河伝説外伝 ウルトラマンゼロVSダークロプスゼロ, Urutora Ginga Densetsu Gaiden: Urutoraman Zero VS Dākuropusu Zero, 2010), ULTRAMAN ZERO: THE REVENGE OF BELIAL (ウルトラマンゼロ THE MOVIE 超決戦！ベリアル銀河帝国, Urutoraman Zero THE MOVIE Chō Kessen! Beriaru Ginga Teikoku, 2010), Q: DOOR TO ANOTHER DIMENSION (Ｑ-異次元への扉, Q-i Jigen e no Tobira, 2011), SSSS.GRIDMAN (SSSS.グリッドマン, SSSS.Guriddoman, 2018) and THE KAIJU STEP WANDABADA (かいじゅうステップ ワンダバダ, Kaijū Suteppu Wandabada, 2019). He was a producer on the anime series ULTRAMAN (ウルトラマン, Urutoraman, 2019), a planner for the ULTRAMAN ARCHIVES project, and author of the Science Fantasy Picture Book Kaiju no Sumika (空想科学絵本 かいじゅうのすみか, Kūsō Kagaku Ehon Kaijū no Sumika. 2019).
Koichi Noguchi and Masahiro Onda will reveal new information about KAIJU DECODE during the opening ceremonies of TSUBURAYA CONVENTION 2019, the largest festival in the history of Tsuburaya Productions. The event will be held at Tokyo Dome City on Saturday, December 14 and Sunday, December 15,
