SSSS.GRIDMAN Update from Pony Canyon and Tsuburaya Productions
Pony Canyon and Tsuburaya Productions have provided SciFi Japan with a press update on their upcoming superhero anime series, SSSS.GRIDMAN (SSSS.グリッドマン, SSSS.Guriddoman). Tsuburaya has produced the show with the animation studio TRIGGER, with Pony Canyon handling foreign sales.
You’re not alone. Always and forever.
GRIDMAN THE HYPER AGENT (電光超人グリッドマン, Denkoo Choojin Guriddoman) — aka GRIDMAN — was a Japanese TV series that aired from 1993. Despite the fact that computers were not common in regular households at that time, this series featured elements of the internet and computer viruses and gained popularity through its futuristic appeal.
A new anime adaptation entitled SSSS.GRIDMAN will air in Autumn 2018! The animation will be handled by Studio TRIGGER and directed by Akira Amemiya, who presented the anime short GRIDMAN THE HYPER AGENT: BOYS INVENT GREAT HERO (電光超人グリッドマン boys invent great hero) at the Japan Animator Expo in 2015.
The future of the “Gridman” world will become reality in 2018, revived in the animation world.
