BIOHAZARD: VENDETTA — New RESIDENT EVIL CG Anime Film Opens in Japan This May

Kadokawa Pictures has provided information and high-res images from their upcoming computer animated film, BIOHAZARD: VENDETTA (バイオハザード ヴェンデッタ, Baiohazaado Vendetta). The movie is based on CAPCOM’s multi-million dollar video game series — known internationally as RESIDENT EVIL– that established the “survival horror” genre and has shipped over 71 million units worldwide (the latest entry, RESIDENT EVIL: BIOHAZARD, goes on sale January 23rd), and the live-action film franchise that has grossed more than $900 million at the worldwide box office.
VENDETTA is the third BIOHAZARD/RESIDENT EVIL animated feature, following DEGENERATION (バイオハザード：ディジェネレーション Baiohazaado Dijenereeshon) in 2008 and DAMNATION (バイオハザード ダムネーション, Baiohazaado Damuneeshon) in 2012. The new movie is directed by Takanori Tsujimoto (THE NEXT GENERATION -PATLABOR-, ULTRAMAN X) with a screenplay by Makoto Fukami (PSYCHO-PASS, THE TORTURE CLUB) and music from Kenji Kawai (GHOST IN THE SHELL, THE NEXT GENERATION -PATLABOR-). The Executive Producer is Takashi Shimizu, creator/director of the JU-ON/THE GRUDGE J-Horror series.
BIOHAZARD: VENDETTA opens in Japan on May 27th. The movie will be released in America later this year (exact date tba) as RESIDENT EVIL: VENDETTA.
Chris Redfield of the Bio-terrorism Security Assessment Alliance (BSAA) leads an assault on a mansion serving as a base for Bio Organic Weapon (BOW) traffickers. During his search of the premises, Chris encounters the international criminal Glenn Arias, but Arias is able to elude capture.
Meanwhile, Alexander Institute of Biotechnology Professor Rebecca Chambers — a former member of the Raccoon City Police Special Tactics And Rescue Service (STARS) — is researching reports of the dead returning to life and becoming violent. After investigating the case, she discovers out that a new virus is involved and succeeds in developing therapeutic drugs to combat it. But her laboratory is attacked by an unknown perpetrator, and only Chris’ intervention saves Rebecca from certain death.
Chris and Rebecca next turn to Division of Security Operations (DSO) agent Leon S. Kennedy, who is investigating the new virus under the direct orders of the President of the United States. They determine that Glenn Arias’ real objective is a bioterror attack on New York City and race to to stop his plans.
