FilmDistrict is a leading independent distribution, acquisition, co-production and feature film financing entity, designed to bring commercially viable films to targeted audiences across the United States. The Company focuses its efforts on wide release films from prominent filmmakers with notable casts.
Founded in September 2010 by CEO Peter Schlessel Schlessel and GK Film’s Graham King and Tim Headington, FilmDistrict plans to distribute an average of six to eight films per year. To date, FilmDistrict has seen success with such wide releases as INSIDIOUS starring Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne; SOUL SURFER starring AnnaSophia Robb, Academy Award winner Helen Hunt, and Dennis Quaid; DRIVE starring Ryan Gosling; RED DAWN starring Chris Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, and Josh Peck; and the recent successful platform release of SAFETY NOT GUARANTEED.
